Everyday at the top of painting class our instructor spends about five minutes showing us a selected artist’s work. Today before starting the slide show he let me know that I would love this artist, and that he could see a lot of ‘me’ in the work. Well, he was right. I was blown away by the art of Julie Heffernan. All her works are self portraits, and upon first look are stunningly beautiful. Upon closer inspection, each painting is very dark, and somewhat morbid.
